My dear,
Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art.
Fascinating because you’re definitely an artist, yet you’ll never be recognized for it.
Fascinating because while all other artists have the goal of bending paint and oil on a permanent canvas, your goal is to bend time and resources onto fleeting things. Fascinating because this frailty and impermanence makes you even more of an artist, yet no one, not even artists, recognize this. And beyond fascinating because on top of being an artist you’re demanded, unlike most artists, to use your art to put food on the table and clothes on your family’s backs, day-in and day-out.
I’d have to say that we should look for the greatest undiscovered artist less in the gutters and poverty-ridden neighbourhoods, and more in the corporations; and better yet, the start-ups.
Falsely yours,
Andy Warhol
