You see the worst in humanity in most situations and you say you’re being realistic… and not pessimistic. How is seeing the future as a negative being realistic?
In fact, I say stop being pessimistic, and stop being realistic (no matter how many people tell you to be). Be optimistic!
How do you create a better a greater path for humanity if you have no faith in it? How do you create something that brings wonder to the world if you yourself are not filled with wonder?
No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.
