My dear,
A lot of people come to me from all over the world on a daily basis, asking me the purpose of their lives. Whether or not they should get a law degree or pursue that passion for art that they have. Whether or not the should do this or do that.
I simply answer them so:
The purpose of our lives is to be happy.
If art makes you happy pursue it. If curing others of their diseases makes you happy pursue it. If running a business makes you happy pursue it. If traveling the world makes you happy pursue it. If writing makes you happy pursue it. And if helping others less fortunate makes you happy pursue it.
I believe that if we all find something that makes us happy, and we make it our purpose in life, we’d all stop asking the “what’s my purpose in life” question. For who asks a question when they know the answer?
Falsely yours,
The Dalai Lama
