My dear,
She who looks with eyes likes telescopes and binoculars sees the world, but she fails to look at anything closer, and never learns about these telescopes and binoculars of hers. She’ll know the world, but she’ll never know about the eyes she sees the world through.
I would advice that every now and then, she put the binoculars down and close her eyes, so that her sight is directed inward. So that once she goes back to looking at the world, she’ll start to see the world not as a sleepwalker, like most are, but as a fully awake human being, the most radical thing to be.
Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
Falsely yours,
Carl Gustav Jung
